The Church and the Fishing Business

Jesus told many parables to describe the kingdom of heaven - what His church would look like. One of those parables he told was that of the fishing business. A few men who became his disciples were fishermen and they left their business to become "fishers of men", catching as many people in the world as possible by sharing the good news. How then do we learn from Jesus' and his disciples to become an effective church today?
